Just got word that Joey ‘Jaws’ Chestnut has indeed defeated Takeru ‘Tsunami’ Kobayashi just moments ago in the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Championship. These men ate 66 and 63 hot dogs and buns respectively in 12 minutes. This absolutely smashes last years winning number of 53 3/4 (at the time the world record, posted by Kobayashi).
I mentioned before that Joey managed to set the new world record during the qualifying rounds at 59 1/2 and it was unsure if Kobayashi would even compete. It was even reported that Kobayashi had problems with his jaw.
Well when it is go time, athletic machines such as these simply perform. Congratulations to these gentlemen. I can’t wait for next years rematch!
